TRUSTEES OF FRIENDS OF CHILDWALL WOODS AND FIELDS

The present Trustees are:

Brenda Cameron – Events Coordinator

Brenda is our Events Secretary, organising and publicising events we offer the public and our members, and leading guided walks and talks. But her involvement in Childwall Woods and Fields, and in the wider community, is far more extensive than that. Brenda is also involved in the History group; looks after many popular specialist pages on the website such as Veteran Trees, Fungi and Ponds.  Her background in primary education is put to use in schools’ liaison and education including Hope University.  Her role also includes community liaison; litter picker; and tea maker.

Ian Headey – Volunteer Coordinator

Ian grew up playing in Childwall Woods and Fields and is the dynamic organiser of our weekly ‘Diggers’ maintenance group and the monthly Sunday Maintenance and Conservation Events.  His background is in civil engineering.

 

 

David Holland – Friends of Childwall Woods and Fields President and Ecologist

David is a past chair of the Friends of Childwall Woods and Fields, and was an ecologist with the Environment Agency, with expertise in freshwater biology. Later he became a specialist in the control of invasive weeds such as Japanese knotweed.  He has been a passionate advocate and adviser for the establishment of the new ponds at Childwall Woods and Fields (CWF) and applies his ecological knowledge to the overall management of the site.

David Howatson – Treasurer and Historian

David has known Childwall Woods and Fields all his life and is a fount of knowledge on the history of CWF.  He uses his background in running a business in his role as our treasurer.

 

 

 

Isabelle Hurdle – Social Media

Izzy is the first point of contact for public enquiries about Childwall Woods and Fields and looks after our Facebook and Instagram accounts.  Izzy studied zoology at Liverpool Hope University.

 

 

 

John McCombs – Chair of Trustees

A commercially accredited former central government project manager, John brings his considerable experience in fundraising, community engagement, and managing high-stakes central government projects to the table.

John is also Chair or a trustee of various other community focussed charities and not for profit groups including the Childwall All Together Community Partnership.

Andrew Scott – Website, Meetings and Data

Andrew is responsible for the website. His committee role is Minutes Secretary helping to organise meetings, and also compiling data to measure the activities of the Friends and the involvement by the public in the site. His background interests are in trees, birds, and photography and he leads public and members’ walks on these topics.

 

Andrew Weighill – Membership Engagement

Andrew’s role is to encourage membership of the Friends; maintain a register of members; record donations; and produce quarterly newsletters to keep in touch with members. He is keen to encourage feedback from members and sees this as vital.  His background is in Business and IT Support.
