Sunday October 16th saw an intrepid group of more than 25 volunteers of all ages bravely tackle the ‘jungle’ of the Middle Field.
In the spring we planted 20 fruit trees on the Middle Field. Months later these have almost vanished under a profusion of nettle, bramble and goose-grass.
It was time to re-discover them if possible and to clear some of the overgrown paths on the Middle Field.
In fine weather, and fortified by the prospect of tea and scones, a heroic team effort rescued 18 of the trees – 2 remain undiscovered – and with clearer paths, it is now safer and easier to visit the Middle Field. A big thank you to all the brave volunteers.
