Clearing Himalayan Balsam on top field, Sunday 16 June

Himalayan Balsam is an invasive species which has become a major problem across the whole country and here at Childwall Woods and Fields it has taken over thousands of square metres especially on the lower and middle fields.  We have spent countless hours trying to prevent it encroaching on to our valuable wet meadows on the top field, and today the battle continued.  Nine of our members and volunteers spent time clearing the unwelcome invader from the edge of the slope up from the middle field.
